BRG Da Nang Golf Resort Norman Course
Legend Da Nang Golf Resort, Nicklaus Course Description:
(American-style course with abundant water hazards)
In 2018, the first nine holes of the Legend Danang Golf Resort, Nicklaus Course, added to the breadth of golf on offer at the Danang golf club. Two years later, in 2020, marked the course completion with the opening of all 18-holes.
The Nicklaus Course offers a good test of golf and offers a different style of golf from the original Norman Course, which plays in Dunes and Ocean settings. Most of the golf property is low lying and part of a floodplain, so the entire Nicklaus course stands out among swamps and paddy fields. Several of the holes play adjacent to the Coco River with great views of the surrounding villages and back to Danang City.
A series of interconnected lakes and creeks meander throughout the course with wooden walls framing the holes and separating the greens from the surrounding water hazards. These bullheads are unique and give the Nicklaus Course a distinctly Floridian feel. The materials, not coincidently all imported from the USA, form a crucial feature of other Nicklaus courses and associated playing strategies.
Although water is abundant throughout the course, the fairways, landing areas, and greens are generously broad. Proper selection from a series of six tees on each hole is critical for shorter hitters to avoid long water carries. Stronger golfers will face excellent risk-reward shot selections playing from the furthermost back tees. Long hitters are also able to have a go at all of the par 5’s in two as they play 500 yards or less.
All holes at the Legend Danang Golf Resort, Nicklaus Course, are floodlight with modern LED lights. The night golf brings in the possibility of 36-hole days or twilight rounds for those inclined to maximize their time on the courses in Danang. Tall coconut palms form most of the landscaping and help to camouflage the light posts.
A shared 4,000 square meter clubhouse, pro shop, and 300-yard driving range is available to both golfers on the Norman and Nicklaus Courses. Food offerings tend to be more local Vietnamese dishes, with an excellent selection of international golf snacks also available. Taking in a Vietnam sunset on the rooftop makes for an excellent way to reminisce about your round and plan your next Vietnam golf vacation.
